Ruby Tuesday-The Rolling Stones
"Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still, I'm gonna miss you..."
Lately I've been really obsessed with these mysterious, emotionally detached women in movies. They're really smart and strong, but they've been through a lot of turmoil (except Maude probably) and are guarded and frightened, adapting this persona to look strong and tough.
This song is used to beautiful effect in The Royal Tenenbaums, and is kind of Margot's theme song. When I saw Breakfast At Tiffany's at the artsy theatre downtown last winter, this song was on my mind the entire time. I feel like this song is the perfect illustration of these fight-over-flight, mysterious, troubled girls who are so afraid of being tied down, and it's one of my favorite songs because of this.
